These funds will help Ukraine meet the urgent needs of its citizens, especially in health care, education and emergency services.
The United States is providing Ukraine with more than $10 billion in aid designed to meet the urgent needs of Ukrainians. This was announced on Friday, February 24, at the US State Department.
It is noted that most of the funds – $ 9.9 billion – are allocated by the States in the form of grants through the Public Expenditure mechanism of the World Bank to Strengthen Administrative Capacity (PEACE).
“These funds are critical for Ukraine during its defense against Russia and will ensure the ability of the Ukrainian government to continue to meet the urgent needs of its citizens, in particular healthcare, education and emergency services,” the department explained.
In addition, the United States will allocate another $250 million to help Ukraine’s energy system. The funds will help keep schools running, generators for hospitals, and heating for homes and shelters across Ukraine.
The State Department said the aid is in addition to the $270 million the United States has already committed to bolster Ukraine’s energy security over the past year.
Remember, on Friday, the Pentagon announced $2 billion in military aid to Ukraine. New weapons and critical ammunition stockpiles will boost Ukraine’s ability to repel Russian aggression, the Pentagon said.
The United States also announced large-scale sanctions against Russia. The leaders of dozens of Russian regions, as well as nine ministers and propagandist Olga Skabeeva, were sanctioned.
