There are still civilians in Azovstal – Kirilenko

The other day, representatives of the Ukrainian Azov Regiment said they could not confirm the rescue and release of all civilians from the plant.

There are still more than a hundred civilians in the territory of the Azovstal plant in Mariupol. This was announced on Monday, May 9, by the head of the Donetsk OVA Pavel Kirilenko on the air of the telethon.

“There are now about 100,000 residents in Mariupol in total. There are people who do not want to leave the city. And there are more than a hundred civilians left in Azov,” Kirilenko said.

According to him, the opponent does not stop shelling the plant.

“Aviation works there all the time. It is sometimes quiet there during the evacuation. The Russians are not interested in people leaving towards the territory controlled by Ukraine,” said the head of the Donetsk OVA.

Pavel Kirilenko also said that the fighting was taking place throughout the line of contact in the Donetsk region.

“Now there are attempts to enter in the direction of Limansky. However, the enemy refused and retreated to their old positions, which they were two weeks ago. Ukraine’s defenders did not allow him to advance, they held their positions, “Kirilenko summed up.

It was previously reported that the Russians were focused on destroying the bridge, which was evacuated from Mariupol.

It may be recalled that the leader of the so -called “DPR” Denis Pushilin said that Mariupol should be made a resort city.
