Serhii PLOKHY. – The sense of unity was strengthened by the war. The war did not start in February 2022, but in February 2014, and this sense of unity, in fact, had already begun to develop very strongly after 2014. This changed the political landscape in Ukraine.
The two presidents elected since then have been overwhelmingly without major regional divisions. For the first time since Ukraine’s independence, a single party managed to secure a parliamentary majority when Zelensky was elected. There were others, but that was the most obvious sign of this unity that really started to take shape after 2014.
