China is likely preparing to supply Russia with lethal weapons. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. The North Atlantic Alliance saw signs of this. The day before, in Moscow, Russian war criminal Vladimir Putin met with one of Beijing’s top diplomats, Wang Yi, who is considered an adviser to Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
NATO has seen “signs” that China is “considering and possibly planning” to send arms to Russia, Stoltenberg said in an interview with Reuters on Thursday.
We have not seen any lethal military aid shipments from China to Russia, but we have seen signs that they are considering and possibly planning to do so, and so the United States and other allies are very clear in warning Beijing… And China, of course, should not support illegal war against Russia, which is a flagrant violation of international law,” Stoltenberg said.
The head of NATO recalled that China is a member of the UN Security Council, and Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine is a violation of the UN Charter.
China keeps a significant number of tanks, artillery and other weapons that are actual copies of Soviet designs. And this is without taking into account the large number of weapons intended directly for export.
Recall that last week US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Washington was concerned about China’s intention to consider the possibility of providing “lethal military assistance” to Russia. Blinken added: “I warned China against providing material support to Russia.”
