The court arrested the property and assets of Medvedchuk’s wife Oksana Marchenko in the amount of UAH 5.6 billion.
The SBU reported that we are talking about real estate, land, transport and assets in 18 companies that were used for “subversive activities” against Ukraine.
In particular, the court decision concerns stakes in three oblenergos, which Putin’s godfather Marchenko owns through five offshore companies.
Two land plots, four houses in Kyiv and Crimea, 10 cars and assets in 18 investment, agro-industrial, and telecommunications enterprises were also arrested. Among them are the Kyiv companies Terra-Invest, Ukrcapital and Sport-Tour, which Medvedchuk’s wife used for subversive activities against Ukraine.
Earlier, SBU investigators informed Marchenko and the head of an affiliated Crimean firm of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 110-2 (financing of actions committed with the aim of forcibly changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or seizing state power, changing the boundaries of the territory or state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code.
According to the same article, a top manager of Ukrkapital and Sport-Tour was suspected. He was detained and a measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen.
The crime, in which Marchenko and the managers of the companies involved are suspected, provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The seizure of assets will ensure the possibility of confiscation by court order and will protect property from re-registration to other persons.
