A new type of Kraken coronavirus (Omicron XBB.1.5) has already been recorded in four regions of Ukraine.
This type of COVID-strain circulates, in particular, in the Sumy region – the first patient was found in this region. Another disease was found in citizens in the Transcarpathian, Ternopil and Odessa regions. The work of the laboratory continues constantly and the specialists have managed to complete almost a thousand sequencings. This was reported on February 22 at the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
The department notes that the development of events is predictable, since each new mutation of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus disease displaces the previous one.
According to Oksana Koshalko, head of the CSP surveillance department, the Omicron strain is transmitted faster, but is more easily tolerated. In order not to burden the medical system and protect yourself and loved ones, doctors advise getting vaccinated and getting booster shots.
Recall that in December 2022, the Director of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreis, said that at least 90% of the world’s population is already immune to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This was achieved through pre-infection or through vaccination.
