The obsolete Kh-22 missiles were put into service in 1971. Their use may indicate that modern missiles in Russia are nearing completion.
For strikes on Ukrainian territory, Russia began using Soviet Kh-22 cruise missiles. For the first time this happened on the night of Monday, May 9, in the Donetsk region, according to Defense Express.
Thus, the Russian military used up to six Kh-22 Kh-22 air-launched cruise missiles from strategic bombers of the Tu-22M3 type. They sent the objects to the cities of the Donetsk region.
The authors suggest that since the occupiers began using outdated missiles, it is possible that they were running out of Caliber and Iskander stocks.
Note that the X-22 is a Soviet cruise missile built since 1958 and put into service in February 1971. Due to the untimely “stuffing”, they can be dangerous in operation. At the same time, the Iskanders are inferior to the Kh-22 in terms of maximum range (500 and 600 km, respectively).
Recall that British intelligence has now reported that the Russian Federation is running out of high-precision missiles.
