The issue of providing Western combat aircraft to Kyiv will be decided in the coming months, believes Andrei Melnik.
The issue of transferring Western combat aircraft to Ukraine will be decided within the next few months. This is what Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Melnyk said in an interview Ukrainian truth, published on Wednesday, February 22.
“I can give a forecast. I think that we will solve this issue (aircraft – ed.) over the next months. Here we are not only talking about military issues and pilot training, here there are purely practical issues that must be considered- regard, and there are also some delicate domestic political questions, such as longer missiles,” the official explained.
He also noted that it is now important to prepare citizens of states that can transfer aircraft to Ukraine so that ordinary people support possible decisions on deliveries.
“I really believe that it is a matter of very fast time. We are not talking about weeks, of course, but about months,” Melnik summed up.
Recall that, according to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov, the initiative to transfer Western fighters to Ukraine already exists, so it remains only to organize an “aircraft coalition.”
Reznikov also stated that Western partners are “ripe” for the transfer of aircraft to Ukraine and the issue should be resolved within one to two months.
