Locals call the strange spherical object “Godzilla’s egg” and even something from outer space.
A large metal sphere was found off the coast of the Japanese city of Hamamatsu. The find was first spotted by a local resident. However, authorities are yet to say what it is, according to the BBC on Wednesday, February 22.
The police and bomb squad sent to investigate are yet to determine the source of the item. However, according to them, the sphere is empty and poses no threat. According to the initial version, it is a kind of buoy.
Locals call the mysterious find a “Godzilla egg”, a “mooring buoy” and an object from outer space.
Japanese broadcaster NHK released video of two officers on Ensukhama beach looking at a rusted metal sphere about 1.5m in diameter.
Authorities cordoned off the area and conducted X-ray studies, confirming the facility was safe.
In the near future, the object will be taken from the beach, local authorities added.
The media said that such searches usually do not arouse suspicion, but this happened against the backdrop of a story of unknown objects being shot in the United States.
