The company Rheinmetall said that they have doubled the capacity several times, but the first batch will arrive only in the middle of summer.
The first batch of German ammunition for the Gepard anti-aircraft system will be delivered to Ukraine before July. This was said by the director of the manufacturing company Rheinmetall Armin Papperger, reports CNN.
It was noted that he, together with the Minister of Defense of Germany, visited a tank factory in Unterlus in the west of the country.
In response to Pistorius’ call for arms manufacturers to increase ammunition production, Papperger said his company had “doubled and even tripled capacity in some sectors.”
“For the production of weapons, the warehouse is full, we are working at full capacity, and we can still increase the capacity in one shift,” Papperger added, noting that contracts must be concluded for this.
Papperger also announced that 20 Marder combat vehicles are ready to be sent to Ukraine by the end of March.
It will be recalled that a week ago it was reported that Germany will resume the production of ammunition for the Gepard anti-aircraft gun, which it previously transferred to Ukraine.
Borrell called on EU countries to immediately transfer the ammunition found in warehouses in Ukraine
