Hundreds of thousands more could be added to the 300,000 draft Russians. Putin will present it as “protection against NATO”
Russian President Vladimir Putin may soon mobilize more Russians, we are talking about hundreds of thousands of people, reports The New York Times, citing representatives of American intelligence.
US intelligence officials say they are getting evidence that he may be about to draft more Russians into the army, adding hundreds of thousands to the 300,000 already drafted.
Journalists of the publication also provided a forecast of what Putin will say in his address to the Federal Assembly.
The publication notes that Putin will once again say that he is not only saving Ukraine from “Nazism”, but also Russia – from being engulfed by NATO.
The NYT wrote that this statement seemed meaningless to Europeans, but it “became a rallying cry in Moscow.”
The publication also suggests that the President of the Russian Federation will present the war in Ukraine “as a battle for the restoration of the historical lands of Russia.”
It was previously reported that the Russian Federation was recruiting “guest workers” into the ranks of the occupation forces.
