A series of strong earthquakes occurred on Monday, February 20 in Turkey. As a result of another natural disaster, at least eight people were injured – all hospitalized. This is what Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said in a briefing.
“We know that this earthquake is an independent earthquake. Currently, after the magnitude 6.4 earthquake, there are about 20 aftershocks. We have 8 injured,” the official said.
According to AFAD, the earthquake occurred at magnitude 6.4 with an epicenter in the Gulf of Hatay. The depth of the earthquake was 16.74 kilometers.
Later, another earthquake of magnitude 5.8 occurred in the Samandag region of Khatai. The depth of the 5.8 magnitude earthquake was 7 kilometers.
Rescuers are currently investigating whether there are people under the rubble after the new earthquakes.
