New earthquakes in Turkey: eight victims

Two earthquakes of magnitude 6.4 and 5.8 occurred in the Gulf of Hatay and in Samandag, rescuers are looking for people under the ruins.

A series of strong earthquakes occurred on Monday, February 20 in Turkey. As a result of another natural disaster, at least eight people were injured – all hospitalized. This is what Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said in a briefing.

“We know that this earthquake is an independent earthquake. Currently, after the magnitude 6.4 earthquake, there are about 20 aftershocks. We have 8 injured,” the official said.

According to AFAD, the earthquake occurred at magnitude 6.4 with an epicenter in the Gulf of Hatay. The depth of the earthquake was 16.74 kilometers.

Later, another earthquake of magnitude 5.8 occurred in the Samandag region of Khatai. The depth of the 5.8 magnitude earthquake was 7 kilometers.

Rescuers are currently investigating whether there are people under the rubble after the new earthquakes.

It will be remembered that the number of people killed due to the devastating earthquakes in southern Turkey has reached 41,020.

As you know, on February 6, two devastating earthquakes with a magnitude of more than 7 points occurred in the southeast of Turkey, affecting neighboring Syria.
