The main topic of the meeting between the top diplomat of the EU, the Secretary General of NATO and the Ukrainian Foreign Minister was the acceleration of the supply of artillery ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The topic of the upcoming meeting in the EU-NATO-Ukraine format is the issue of accelerating the supply of ammunition to the Ukrainian army. This was announced by Josep Borrell, High Representative of the EU for Foreign and Security Policy, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“Tomorrow we will be in NATO with Minister Kuleba – we will have a meeting with the Secretary General of NATO, with Minister Kuleba and me. The topic is, as today, how we can quickly provide weapons to Ukraine, especially that’s the bullets,” he said.
The vice-president of the European Commission stated that Russian artillery fires about 15,000 rounds per day, and Ukraine should be at the same level of capabilities. Currently, the Ukrainian army needs the supply of 155 mm caliber ammunition, as well as 152.
“We will do everything to supply ammunition to Ukraine. This is the most urgent issue. If we fail, the outcome of the war is at risk,” Borrell stressed.
This issue will be the subject of discussion today at a meeting of foreign ministers, tomorrow – at NATO and next week – at a meeting of EU defense ministers.
“We will show them (the defense ministers) some proposals and see what will be the best. And the best will be implemented,” Borrell summed up.
Earlier it was reported that the countries of the EU in March may agree on the joint purchase of ammunition, which will be given to Ukraine.
