Ottawa announced new economic and military aid to Kyiv, as well as extending sanctions against Moscow.
Following Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s visit to Ukraine on Sunday, May 8, Ottawa decided to provide additional assistance to Kyiv. This was reported by the press service of the head of the Canadian government.
“Today, the Prime Minister announced additional measures and investments to continue to support Ukraine, including the provision of an additional $ 50 million ($ 38.8 million – ed.) In the form of military assistance,” the document said.
It was noted that Kyiv will receive, in particular, ammunition for M777 howitzers and small arms, as well as the necessary high -resolution satellite images.
In addition, the Canadian authorities decided to remove customs duties on all Ukrainian goods for a year to support our economy.
Finally, Ottawa is expanding its lists of sanctions on Russia. They produced another 40 individuals, including businessmen and the military.
Thus, former President of Lukoil Vagit Alekperov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank Olga Golodets, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Colonel-General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, General Sharip Delimkhanov, State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov and others are subject to restrictions.
As reported, Zelensky, along with Trudeau, after bilateral talks in Kyiv, took part in a video conference of the leaders of the G7 countries.
