Blinken confirmed the truth of the conversation, however, said he could not share its details.
The US government has spoken with businessman Elon Musk about the use of Starlink satellite internet in Ukraine. This was announced on Saturday, February 18, by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Reuters reports.
SpaceX recently said it has taken steps to prevent the Ukrainian military from using Starlink to control drones in the region.
When asked if the US asked Musk, the company’s chief executive, not to limit the use of Starlink capabilities by the Ukrainian military, Blinken only confirmed the reality of the negotiations.
“Well, I can’t share any of the conversations we had other than to say we had conversations,” he said.
The Minister of Digital Transformation, Mikhail Fedorov, said that a few months ago, changes were recorded from SpaceX in the functionality of geofencing, but now everything is working. There are no problems with the operation of Starlink terminals in Ukraine today.
