According to previously announced plans, Bulgaria should join the eurozone at the beginning of 2024. The new target date is January 1, 2025.

Bulgaria will not be able to join the eurozone from January 1, 2024. This was announced today, February 17, by the Minister of Finance of the country’s technical government, Rositsa Velkova, TASS reports.

According to previously announced plans, Bulgaria should join the eurozone at the beginning of 2024. The new target date is January 1, 2025.

“Bulgaria will not join the Eurozone from January 1, 2024, the reason is that Bulgaria does not meet the requirements for inflation and has not adopted the necessary legislation. The new target date is January 1, 2025, but everything is depending on the fulfillment of mandatory entry requirements,” the minister said.

Recall that the President of Bulgaria dissolved the parliament and scheduled elections for April.
