Ukraine has restored two more railway sections on the border with Poland.
This was announced today, February 17, on his Facebook page by Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Oleksandr Kubrakov.
It is noted that the following areas have been restored:
- State border – Starzhava – Khyrev – Nizhankovichi – State border (line 102);
- Khyrov – Sambir.
To this end, Ukrzaliznytsia repaired about 70 km of tracks, renovated 10 bridges and repaired the railway infrastructure and passenger platforms in Khirov, Nizhankovichi and Starzhava. All work was completed in record time – less than a year, – notes Kubrakov.
According to him, the completion of these projects will significantly increase the capacity of the western border of Ukraine, in particular, its key direction – Poland.
These are additional opportunities for exporters, additional logistical routes for transporting international assistance to Ukraine and accelerating Ukraine’s practical integration into the European market, the minister noted.
In addition, Kubrakov added, in 2022, the reconstruction and electrification of the Kovel-Izov-State border section was completed.
The transfer of traction on this section to electric now makes the logistics between Ukraine and Poland much more efficient, and the number of pairs of trains to European countries per day in the future may be 14, he stressed.
