On the Ukrainian-Polish border, two more railway sections were restored: about 70 km of tracks were repaired and 10 bridges were updated. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Oleksandr Kubrakova.
We are talking about the sections: state border – Starzhava – Khyrov – Nizhankovichi – state border (line 102) and Khyrov – Sambir.
It was also reported that the station infrastructure and passenger platforms in Khyrov, Nizhankovichi and Starzhava have been repaired.
“All the work was completed in record time – less than a year. Thanks to the completion of these projects, we will significantly increase the capacity of our western border, especially its main direction – the Polish,” wrote Kubrakov.
As the Deputy Prime Minister notes, this provides additional opportunities for exporters and increases logistics routes for bringing international aid through Ukraine, and also allows accelerating the practical integration of Ukraine in the European market.
“The restoration of these two sections are not the only railway projects we have implemented in recent months. In 2022, we completed the reconstruction and electrification of the Kovel-Izov-state border section,” Kubrakov added.
In addition, the minister noted that the transition to electric traction in this section makes logistics between Ukraine and Poland more efficient: in the future, it will be possible to pass up to 14 pairs of trains per day.
Earlier it was reported that Ukrzaliznytsia received the Rail Champion 2023 European Railway Award for endurance and work during the war.
