Institutions and people who support the Kremlin, and films made with Russian support, are not allowed in the current festival.

“Culture and cinema can be outside of politics. But not when it is a policy of aggression. Not when it is a policy of mass crime, murder, terrorism, the desire to destroy other countries and other people. When it is a policy of total war. That is, today’s politics is Russia,” Zelensky said.
He emphasized that “under such circumstances and in such circumstances – art cannot be neutral. It cannot be ‘out’.”
“Proclaiming the principles of openness, equality, dialogue without borders and the participation of cinema from around the world, the Berlinale made a choice. The institutions and people who support the Kremlin and films made with the support of Russia is not allowed at the current festival,” Zelensky said.
“We appreciate it and are grateful for it. It is really important. It is not a formality – it is justice,” Zelensky stressed, thanking for support and unity in Ukraine.
