Estonia offers the countries of the European Union to invest 4 billion euros in the total purchase of one million ammunition from Ukraine. The influential publication Bloomberg writes about this.
Such a plan involves increasing the capacity of European industry by 7 times. Official Tallinn indicates in the document that the Armed Forces of Ukraine currently use 60-210 thousand ammunition per month. The defense industry of the European Union has the capacity to produce 25 thousand shells during this time.
At the same time, the Russians fire about 20-60 thousand shells a day. That is why Estonia is initiating the tightening of EU production capacities. Tallinn is proposing to increase production capacity over the next six months in order to produce the one million 155mm shells needed by Ukraine.
This is a strategic direction towards which we must at least move,” says Kusti Salm, Secretary of the Estonian Ministry of Defense.
Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas last week urged EU leaders to urgently study proposals for the purchase of ammunition in their industries for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. European Council President Charles Michel confirmed that the proposal is planned to be outlined before the meeting in March.
