Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko is ready to allow Russian President Vladimir Putin to use his country as a springboard for a new Russian offensive against Ukraine.
He announced this on February 16, answering questions from BBC correspondent Steve Rosenberg during a press conference in Minsk.
Yes, I am ready… You say “invasion”, we have different views on this… I think that Russia was forced to take these actions to ensure its security… I am ready to provide again [територію]. But I am also ready to wage war together with the Russians from the territory of the Belarusians, but only if even one soldier comes to our territory with weapons to kill my people, Lukashenko said.
The question of the extent of Belarus’ participation in the war has been discussed since February 2022, since Russian troops used the territory of this country as a springboard for the invasion.
In addition, Lukashenko said today that “Russia never loses a war. Never”. To do this, she will try to drive a wedge between the leadership of Ukraine and the military.
Lukashenka believes that in order to end the war in Ukraine, it is necessary to organize negotiations exclusively with the country’s military leadership, excluding it from the political process. Previously, such narratives by Lukashenka were conditioned by the current attitudes of Russian propaganda.
There was no invasion – Lukashenka gathered foreign media.
