There is an understanding between Ukraine and partners regarding the start of membership negotiations in 2023, the President said.
Ukraine is preparing for important international events to be held on February 16-17, and is also trying to bring closer the start of negotiations on membership in the European Union. This was announced on Wednesday, February 15, by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Today we had a day that can be called preparation. Preparation for international events that will take place tomorrow or tomorrow. Ukraine’s position, as always, must be heard. So we are preparing our position so that it is guaranteed to be heard.
Today’s conversation also took place in the direction of European integration. We are doing everything to prepare the start of EU membership negotiations. In particular, we discussed this during the visit of the Prime Minister of Sweden,” said the President.
Zelensky recalled that Sweden currently leads the European Union.
“And we have both the necessary leadership and the necessary will to have membership negotiations this year. Ukraine feels the support of its partners here, and I thank you for that,” the Ukrainian president said.
Earlier it was reported that the European Parliament urged to prepare negotiations on the accession of Ukraine to the EU.
Recall that the head of the EC noted the speed of Ukraine’s progress towards joining the EU.
