Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov announced the appointment of new deputy heads of the department “to improve work efficiency.”
After a high-profile corruption scandal in the procurement of goods for the army, the chair under the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov was stunned. The head of the Servant of the People group in parliament, David Arakhamii, even publicly announced Reznikov’s resignation, but it did not happen. The minister himself said that he will remain in office after a corruption scandal in the ministry by the decision of President Volodymyr Zelensky. Now Reznikov wants to appoint himself new representatives.
Chief of Defense of Kiev
Oleksandr Pavlyuk, the hero of Ukraine, the former commander of the group of forces and means of defense of Kyiv, the former commander of the Joint Forces, was appointed the First Deputy Minister of Defense.
Pavlyuk – lieutenant general. According to Reznikov, the new first deputy is fully aware of the problems of modern warfare and the needs of the Ukrainian army, has the necessary leadership and management qualities. “There will be more synergy in working with the General Staff,” Reznikov said.
Journalist – diplomat
Andriy Shevchenko, a politician, diplomat and journalist, ex-People’s Deputy and former Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada, was invited to the post of Deputy Minister for European Integration.
He should strengthen the direction of European integration of the work of the Ministry of Defense, engage in communications with international partners, legislators, as well as Ukrainian society.
Volunteer from IT
A volunteer, former head of the Turn Back Alive Foundation, Vitaly Dainega, was invited to the post of Deputy Minister for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization.
“Modern warfare requires new strategies. The sector of digital development is one of the areas where Ukraine is capable of a breakthrough and can create new standards for the world. We need a new appearance, a broad perspective and the ability to combine the capabilities of the state, business and public sector,” Reznikov explained his choice.
Deynega confirmed that he is “very close to being appointed” to the position of Deputy Defense Minister for Digital Transformation.
“So that there is no manipulation. This proposal is older than the scandal with eggs. He only accelerated the appointment by a couple of weeks. They are no longer connected in any way. Besides, I will say that I once refused. once,” said said Deinega.
The volunteer noted that he agreed to this position for two reasons – now there are no obligations that hinder him, and with such a disproportion of resources to the enemy, our advantages can only be technical and motivational.
“If I go to the position, this is what will happen next. There will be carte blanche from the minister – permission for decisions that I consider to be right in my area of authority. There will be strict prioritization and cleaning of personnel in which the IT sector of the Ministry of Defense can be the scope of their interests or an opportunity not to go to the military registration and enlistment office or serve in the army only on paper, without bringing real benefits,” Deinega said.
