The Committee of Permanent Representatives of the European Union decided to create a special working group to study the possibility of transferring the arrested or frozen assets of Russia to the EU in Ukraine. This was announced by the Swedish representation at the Council of the EU on its page at Twitter on Wednesday, February 15th.
EU ambassadors approved the creation of an ad hoc working group on the use of frozen and immobilized Russian assets to support the reconstruction of Ukraine.
The working group will study European laws and international regulations to find the possibility of transferring Russian funds from EU banks to Ukraine.
The work includes solving legal, financial, economic and political issues, as well as studying the feasibility of such use of funds.
The experts will present the results to the EU Council, which will make the final decision.
Earlier it was reported that Switzerland did not find legal grounds for the transfer of blocked Russian assets to Ukraine.
