Russian warplanes regularly appear near or in Alaska’s air defense zone.
The North American Air Defense Command (NORAD) located, tracked and intercepted four Russian aircraft that invaded the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone. This was announced on Tuesday, February 14 by the press service NORAD.
“NORAD located, tracked, positively identified and intercepted four aircraft that entered and were in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone on Feb. 13,” the statement said.
At the same time, it was noted that the Russian aircraft did not violate the airspace of the United States or Canada.
The order added that Russian aircraft frequently enter Alaska’s air defense zone and are not considered a threat or a provocation.
“NORAD anticipates this activity and, as a result of our planning, is prepared to cease it,” the statement read.
It was also emphasized that the incident was “in no way connected to recent operations by NORAD or the US military” to eliminate unidentified aircraft in Canada and the United States.
Earlier it was reported that two F-35 fighters of the Netherlands Air Force intercepted a group of three Russian military aircraft in the skies over Poland.
North Korean drones have invaded South Korean airspace.
