The last few attempts to choose the leader were unsuccessful – and now VAKS has a new boss.

Judge Vera Mikhailenko became the new head of the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine, the corresponding decision was made at a general meeting of judges. This was announced on Tuesday, February 14, in the VAKS message.

It should be noted that from May 7, 2019 to May 6, 2022, Elena Tanasevich was the head of VAKS. Since May 7, 2022, the powers of the head of the High Anti-Corruption Court have been exercised by Oleg Pavlyshyn, who has the longest judicial experience.

On May 18, 2022, Judge Alexander Semennikov was elected head of the VAKS Appeals Chamber. He replaced Daniil Chernenkaya in this position.

The High Anti-Corruption Court was established in Ukraine pursuant to the 2016 judicial reform. VAKS started its work on September 5, 2019.

Recall that the XIX Extraordinary Congress of Judges in Kyiv elected all eight members of the High Council of Justice (HJC) according to its quota.

Earlier it became known that the head of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine will be elected only after filling all vacancies of judges in its composition.
