German media reported that the feces in the bag used in the attack had been “made” by a dog just minutes earlier.
Nederlands Dans ballet director Marco Gecke, angered by journalist Wiebke Hüster’s review of his production, bumped into him during intermission, took a bag of dirt and smeared it all over his face, the newspaper wrote. German Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), where the critic works.
The incident took place on February 11 within the walls of the Nederlands Dans theater in The Hague.
At first, Marco Gekke allegedly started insulting the critic, then he pulled out a bag of dog excrement from his pocket.
The newspaper said in a statement that Gecke “expressed his anger” at Hüster’s review, published on Saturday in FAZ, of his play “In the Dutch Mountains”.
German media reported that the feces in the bag used in the alleged attack had been produced by his dachshund, Gustav, just minutes earlier.
An employee of the press service of the opera house helped Huster wash his face, after which he declared Gekka to the police.
As of now, he has been suspended from his post and is under investigation.
The publication also cited passages from the journalist’s text, which greatly offended the ballet director. In particular, the critic compared watching to the passive observation of the sea “behind a glass left to sit warm, looking at a winter beach in a permanently retired state.”
“Watching the play alternated between feeling crazy and bored,” Huster wrote.
Meanwhile, Lower Saxon Culture Minister Falko Mors apologized to the attacked journalist.
“The behavior was completely unacceptable and the attack was despicable. We will discuss further consequences at the State Theatre,” Morse said.
Recall that in the Kherson region, Russian invaders smeared Shevchenko’s portrait with dirt.
A photo of a Russian propagandist, editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya news agency and head of the RT television channel Margarita Simonyan appeared on the network. The face is depicted from worms, larvae and feces.
