The US sent an aircraft carrier to help Turkey

The Nimitz-class supercarrier has begun en route to Turkey to aid in the massive recovery effort if needed.

The US moved the USS George W. Bush, stationed in the Mediterranean Sea, closer to Turkey to help deal with the aftermath of a devastating earthquake. This is what Pentagon Speaker Patrick Ryder said.

The Nimitz-class supercarrier has begun en route to Turkey to aid in the massive recovery effort if Turkish officials request additional assistance.

Ryder noted that the United States has previously sent search and rescue teams, cargo planes and helicopters to Turkey.

“We try to do our best to respond to their requests and help them,” he said.

More US disaster relief teams will arrive in Turkey next week.

Recall that on the night of February 6, several strong earthquakes occurred in Turkey, with a magnitude of more than 7. According to the latest data, more than 20 thousand people died in Turkey, more than 80 thousand were injured. In neighboring Syria, the death toll is approaching 3,500.
