Perhaps the Russians will try to open a new front in the Sumy area and the Kharkiv region to divert the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Donbass.

Ukrainian and Russian troops prepare to attack after months of static fighting. However, Russia started first. On Friday, February 10, the New York Times reports.

According to the newspaper, the Russians plan to occupy Donbass in March, surround the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the north and south through Kremennaya and Vuhledar.

Also, the invaders will try to disrupt the Armed Forces of Ukraine by opening a new front, most likely in the area of Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

At the same time, Ukraine is preparing a counter-offensive, which Russia wants to predict where and when it can strike. However, according to the newspaper, it will be difficult to advance in the east, as the Russian Federation has strengthened its positions there since 2014. The most “promising” counteroffensive is in the south: Melitopol will be an obvious target, as it is located in intersection of two highways and an important railway line.

If Ukraine can divide Russian forces near Melitopol, it will weaken Russian control over the Kherson region.

Earlier, the White House said that the Russian Federation was preparing for a spring offensive.
