President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Brussels on February 9 to speak at a meeting of the European Parliament.
The day before, Volodymyr Zelenskyy was invited to take part in the summit of leaders of the European Union, which is scheduled for February 9-10 in Brussels.
Zelensky will address EU leaders with four requests in Brussels, Euractiv reported.
-
joint support for accelerating the supply of weapons before a possible spring offensive by the Russian Federation, primarily fighters and long-range missiles;
-
strengthening sanctions pressure on the aggressor, imposing restrictions on the Russian nuclear industry, in particular, Rosatom;
-
issues of Ukraine’s accession to the EU;
-
support for the Ukrainian formula of peace for the formation of a new global security architecture
The publication notes that Zelensky is unlikely to be able to get immediate promises to satisfy these requests, but a visit to Brussels allows him to lobby all 27 EU leaders at once.
On February 8, the President of Ukraine was in London and Paris. In the British capital, Zelensky met with Rishi Sunak, King Charles III, in the British Parliament, as well as a trip to a military base where Ukrainian tank crews are trained.
Zelensky then flew to Paris, where he met French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at night.
