Rescue efforts continue in Turkey following a deadly earthquake on February 6. Today, two boys were rescued, who spent 52 and 44 hours under the rubble.
In the city of Hatay, 8-year-old Yigit and two-year-old Vafe were rescued from the rubble, BILD reports.
In the Syrian city of Besnaya, a family was rescued from the rubble of a house. They spent more than a day there after the February 6th earthquake.
Meanwhile, on February 8, several more earthquakes hit Turkey. One of them, with a magnitude of 5.4, occurred in the southeast of the country, near the city of Adiaman. This is evidenced by the observations of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center. Three more earthquakes of magnitude 3.2, 3.4 and 4.8 occurred in the same area.
The tremors were felt in the morning in the province of Kahramanmarash, which suffered the most from the destruction of February 6. They recorded magnitudes of 4.6 in the first case and 4.8 in the second.
Recall that on February 6, an earthquake of magnitude 7.7 occurred in Kahramanmarash. He touched 10 Turkish provinces, as well as Syrian regions, including Aleppo. The tremors were felt in different countries of the world, seismologists recorded them even in Greenland.
The total number of deaths has already exceeded 10 thousand people, 50 thousand injured. People remain under the rubble.
The echo of a powerful earthquake was also felt in Ukraine. Minor tremors touched the Khmelnitsky and South Ukrainian nuclear power plants. This was recorded by seismic monitoring systems.
Meanwhile, the first group of Ukrainian rescuers has already arrived in Turkey to help in the aftermath of the earthquake. In total, 87 personnel, 18 pieces of equipment and 10 search and rescue dogs were sent from Ukraine.
During the earthquake in Turkey, 8,574 people died, 49,133 were injured, 6,444 buildings were destroyed, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.
