The head of the German Ministry of Defense (MO) Boris Pistorius announced a summit of the countries that make up the “tank coalition”.
The heads of defense ministries of countries planning to transfer Leopard tanks to Ukraine will meet next week. This is what German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said during his visit to Warsaw, reports TVN24.
“We also have a joint project with Poland, that is, we will supply the Leopard 2A6, Poland – 2A4, and we agreed with our colleague Mariusz (Blashak, Polish Minister of Defense – ed.) with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov, we will meet next week and invite to this meeting the countries that will form the Leopard tank coalition,” the official said.
He noted that the tank coalition has not yet been finally formed.
“New countries will join us. The point is to gather as many countries as possible in this coalition,” Pistorius summed up.
As you know, on January 25, Germany officially announced the supply of Leopard 2 tanks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and authorized their re-export to other countries.
As a result, on February 7, the German authorities issued a permit for the export of Leopard 1 A5 battle tanks for the needs of the Ukrainian army.
