Ukraine and Russia have opened a race against time between the arrival of Western missiles and tanks at the front and the start of an all-Russian offensive, the priority of which would be the conquest of the entire Donbass.

“The US and its allies are trying to drag out the conflict as long as possible. To this end, they have begun to supply heavy offensive weapons and are openly calling for Ukraine to seize our territories,” Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Tuesday at a meeting with senior officials.

The first anniversary of the beginning of the Russian military campaign in Ukraine As (February 24) approaches, Kyiv crosses its fingers that the promised Allied military assistance is not too late.

In this regard, the German press today pleased Kyiv, saying that Berlin approved the delivery of 187 Leopard 1 tanks, although they will not reach their destination until the second half of this year.

Moscow hides its cards

Shoigu today did not give any information about a possible combat release. He only warned that the deployment of heavy offensive weapons on Ukrainian territory “involves” more and more countries NATO in conflict.

He also stressed that the Russian army “continues to destroy all weapons and equipment” sent to Kyiv, including supply routes and their positions on the battlefield.

In addition, he also took the opportunity to boast of his achievements in the field of Donetskplace of the bloodiest battles between the forces Russia And Ukraine in the last few months.

“Currently, military operations are being successfully conducted in the Ugledar (Ugledar) and Artemovsk (Bakhmut) regions,” he said.

The minister stressed the “liberation” in Donetsk and the southern Zaporizhia region, with cities such as Soledar, which are crucial for the assault on Bakhmut.

On the possible flank from which the Russians will attack, the Ukrainian governor of the Lugansk region Serhiy Gaidai assured today that the Russian enemy continues to deploy troops in the area.

Doubts inside and outside Russia

British intelligence on Tuesday ruled out a general Russian offensive and clarified that the goal of the current phase of the so-called “special military operation” would be “almost certainly” the capture of the entire region. Donetsk.

In his opinion, the slow advance of the Russians at the front is due to the fact that Moscow lacks the ammunition and parts necessary to launch “successful offensives”, and he doubts that Russia could mobilize the necessary troops to stage a coup on the table “in the coming weeks,” the Financial Times reported.

Russian Igor Girkin, a former Okhrana officer who led a pro-Russian armed uprising in Donbass (2014), he was also “skeptical” about a possible Russian offensive and advised against launching one.

“I more or less know the state of our troops and understand that they can defend themselves. They can attack somewhere, but not (launch) an offensive. This could end even worse than before the escalation,” he suggested.

Girkin predicted that the operation would fail unless it included the mobilization of not only more people, but also the national economy and industry.

Ukraine strengthens the border

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky responded by saying that he would send “officials with military experience” to various border areas and to the front lines with Russia.

“In a number of regions, we appoint officials with military experience. Those who can most effectively prove themselves in defense against modern threats,” he explained.

The assignments were in the southern Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, annexed by the Kremlin in September, and in the eastern part of Dnepropetrovsk.

Kyiv does not expect a massive offensive like the one almost a year ago, but it does expect cross-border raids into Kharkiv and Donbass.

The Verkhovna Rada (legislative) also appointed a new head of the Security Service Ukraine (SBU), Vasily Malyuk, who until now headed the special services.

On the other hand, Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov remains in office despite rumors that he may be fired.

“We persevered. Thank you all for your support, as well as for constructive criticism. We drew conclusions. We continued reforms. Even during the war. We strengthen our defenses and work for victory. Glory Ukraine!” he wrote on Twitter.

Reznikov is one of the key players in efforts to Ukraine receive modern weaponry from the West, but accusations that government officials bought military products at inflated prices cast doubt on his succession.

He explained that neurological movements include tremors, dystonia (sprains), and myoclonus (hiccough-like shaking). A specialist in involuntary movements pointed out that they distinguish between a resting tremor when a person does not make any movements, and an intentional tremor when moving.
