Nine citizens of Ukraine were able to get in touch after a large-scale and deadly earthquake in Turkey.
Diplomats managed to find these persons. They did not get in touch with their relatives; currently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs already has 27 such applications. The condition of those found is satisfactory, nothing threatens their lives. However, some people’s homes were destroyed. They settled with Turkish relatives, and the consul keeps in touch with them. Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko announced this on Facebook on February 7.
The representative of the diplomatic department added that the embassy is cooperating with Turkish rescuers to establish the places of residence of Ukrainians, with whom it has not yet been possible to contact. There was no information about the presence of Ukrainians among the victims of the earthquake.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Turkey Vasily Bondar said on Ukrainian television that diplomats could establish contacts with nine Ukrainians.
For assistance to Ukrainians in Turkey, please contact the “hot line” of the Ukrainian Embassy at +90 539 550 98 98 or the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry: +380 44 238 15 88.
