The Verkhovna Rada appointed a new head of the SBU

    Vasily Malyuk has been appointed head of the Security Service of Ukraine.

    The corresponding decision on the general was made at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Tuesday, February 7. People’s Deputy Oleksiy Goncharenko wrote about this in Telegram.

    This morning, the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and intelligence supported the candidacy of Vasily Malyuk for the post of head of the SBU.

    The kid has been heading the Security Council of Ukraine since July 2022 after Ivan Bakanov was fired. He led the special service in the status of an interim head, by that time he held the position of first deputy head of the department.

    Vasily Malysh is 39 years old. Since 2001 he has served in the SBU. He is a participant in hostilities. Awarded with awards by the President of Ukraine. And on March 25, 2022, he was awarded the military rank of brigadier general.

    Recall, on February 6, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky submitted to the parliament a proposal to appoint acting head of the SBU Vasily Malyuk as head of the special services.
