“The security service eliminated a large-scale scheme of secret financing of Russian occupation groups by citizens of Ukraine. In particular, Oksana Marchenko, the wife of Viktor Medvedchuk who is suspected of high treason, was involved in organizing of the deal. was the real beneficiary of a network of Kyiv companies and a business in Yalta that transferred millions to the accounts of the National Guard and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in occupied Crimea,” said SBU in a statement.
It was established that these companies paid the Russians for the protection of Medvedchuk’s real estate on the territory of the peninsula. In addition, Marchenko’s business structure is regularly equipped with the Russian budget in the form of payment of “taxes and fees.”
“The total amount of payments made in favor of the aggressor country is more than 50 million hryvnia equivalents. To implement the scheme, Oksana Marchenko registered a company in Yalta with an authorized capital of more than 1 billion Russian rubles. To create this, he used the assets of three controlled investment companies located in Kyiv. Then the “Crimean company” signed the corresponding “security” agreements with the structures of the Russian Guard and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia,” the SBU reported.
After the start of a full-scale invasion of Russia, Marchenko’s company continued to finance the budget of the aggressor country.
During 11 searches of Medvedchuk’s wife’s property, the offices of his companies in Kyiv and the homes of top managers, SBU officers found documents, computers, flash drives and mobile phones there is evidence of transactions, seals and bank cards used in illegal activity.
SBU investigators notified Marchenko and the head of an affiliated company in Crimea of suspicion of funding actions taken with the aim of forcefully changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or usurping state power, changing the territorial border or state border of Ukraine. They face up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of assets.
