The powerful earthquakes that occurred on February 6 in Turkey and Syria led to the death of more than 4 thousand people.
To date, 4,300 deaths are known in the two countries. In Turkey, 2,921 people died, and 15,834 people were injured of varying severity. In Syria, the earthquake killed at least 1.4 thousand people, more than 3 thousand people were injured. It is reported by Anadolu.
The Guardian, citing sources, writes that about 20 ISIS militants escaped from prison in the city of Raju in northern Syria, taking advantage of tremors. After the earthquake, the prisoners staged a riot, and walls and doors cracked in the prison building.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that the death toll from the earthquake in Turkey and Syria could rise eightfold.
Recall that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine received 24 appeals about the lack of communication with Ukrainians in Turkey. An operational headquarters has been created at the Ukrainian Embassy and is cooperating with the Turkish authorities.
