The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmihal proposed to the Verkhovna Rada to appoint Igor Klymenko as the new head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
This was announced on February 6 by the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnichuk. In Telegram, he wrote that the parliament had registered the submission of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Shmyhal on the appointment of Igor Vladimirovich Klymenko as the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
On January 18, Klymenko was appointed Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs – Head of the National Police of Ukraine. After the death of Denis Monastyrsky, he also acted as head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Recall that nine people were on board the helicopter that crashed in Brovary in January, including Minister Monastyrsky, his first deputy Yevgeny Enin and State Secretary Yuri Lubkovich. They all died.
Klymenko has been the head of the National Police since September 25, 2019. From 1998 to 2004, he served in the internal affairs bodies as a psychologist, head of the department of the Center for Practical Psychology of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Kharkiv region. He was the head of the Center for Practical Psychology of the Personnel Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Since 2011, he has been working as Deputy and Head of the Inspectorate for Personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. From 2015 to 2017, he headed the Human Resources Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
Since October 2017, he has been Deputy Chairman of the National Police of Ukraine – Head of the Personnel Department. Since March 2018, he has been appointed Deputy Chairman of the National Police of Ukraine.
