By the decision of the Tbilisi City Court, former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will remain in prison. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
The trial in the case of a possible postponement of the prison sentence or release due to Saakashvili’s illness began in December last year. More than two dozen doctors who observed the former president at the Vivamed clinic were interviewed as witnesses, including invited foreign doctors who revealed heavy metal poisoning, dementia and severe exhaustion in Saakashvili.
Foreign doctors recommended that Saakashvili be taken to a special clinic in the US or Europe for treatment.
Doctors treating Saakashvili from the Vivamed clinic have a different opinion, believing that their patient does not have any violations of vital functions.
Representatives of the ruling Georgian Dream party believe that Saakashvili is pretending to be sick and deliberately harming his health by refusing the services of Georgian doctors and taking the minimum amount of food.
Ukrainian parliamentarians at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on Monday, February 6, supported the decision to appeal to Georgia on the status of Mikheil Saakashvili.
