Ukrainians who are abroad for one reason or another will receive affordable roaming services.
Seven Ukrainian and 20 European mobile and fixed-line operators signed a new joint statement on coordinating efforts to ensure affordable roaming for Ukrainians in the EU. This is reported by NCEC.
The agreement was signed by Kyivstar, Vodafone Ukraine, lifecell, Ukrtelecom, Data Group, Vega Telecom Group and 3Mob.
The statement regulates the conditions due to which 4.9 million Ukrainians who are now in EU countries can receive affordable roaming services. The benefits also apply to Ukrainians traveling to the EU on short-term visits, the report said.
“The signing of the joint statement is the result of the careful work of the NCEC team and the European Commission, together with colleagues from BEREC, but above all thanks to the significant efforts of Ukrainian and European operators,” said Alexander Zhivotovsky, head of the NCEC.
He thanked Ukrainian operators and European partners for their unity in the fight against Russian aggression and coordinated actions to provide affordable communication for Ukrainian citizens in Europe.
It was noted that the new statement is a continuation of the agreements reached under the previous joint statement, which ended on April 8, 2022 and was in effect for the past nine months.
It was previously reported that Ukraine may join the EU roaming zone this year.
