High Representative of the European Union, Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell arrived in Kyiv today to participate in high-level events to be held on February 2 and 3 in the capital of Ukraine. The delegation headed by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen included 15 European Commissioners.

Arrived in Kyiv to deliver the most powerful message of support for all Ukrainians defending their country. EU aid has already amounted to 50 billion euros since the beginning of the Russian war. Europe is united and stands next to Ukraine from the first day. And will stand by your side to win and rebuild,” Borrell tweeted.

Among those who arrived in the Ukrainian capital on February 2 are Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice President for Digitally Fit Europe; Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice President for Economics; Transparency Vera Jurova, Vice President for the Promotion of the European Way of Life Margaritis Schinas, Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights Nicholas Schmidt, Commissioner for Economy Paolo Gentiloni, Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski, Commissioner for Justice Didier Rey of the Interior Ylva Johansson, Commissioner for Crisis management Janez Lenarcic, Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement of the EU Oliver Vargei, Commissioner for the Environment Virginius Sinkevičius, Commissioner for Financial Services Mairead McGuinness.

The Board’s visit is a vivid symbol of the European Commission’s support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified aggression. The meeting of the Commission and the Cabinet of Ministers will allow to exchange views on many areas of cooperation between the EU and Ukraine and discuss the future reconstruction, as well as the country’s European path. It is also an opportunity to deepen cooperation with Ukraine, the European Commission said in a statement.

Today, Ursula von der Leyen and the Cabinet of Ministers will discuss support for Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression, coordination of efforts to restore Ukraine, the continuation of key reforms and the approach of our state to EU membership.

Recall that tomorrow the 24th EU-Ukraine summit will take place, the first meeting of this level after the start of Russian aggression and after Ukraine received the status of an EU candidate country.
