Elon Musk, after messages from one of the users, decided to check if closing the page would increase attention to his own tweets.
Twitter CEO Elon Musk closed his account on the social network for a day to see if it would affect the increase in attention to his own tweets. Bloomberg reported this.
On Tuesday, user Yang Miles Cheong tweeted the results of a test showing that a tweet sent when his account was closed received more likes and views than the same tweet posted when opened his account. Musk said it was “a very disturbing phenomenon” and promised to conduct an experiment.
“Made my account private until tomorrow morning to see if you can see my private tweets more than the public ones,” Musk tweeted around 10 a.m. Wednesday.
It was previously reported that in December, companies’ advertising spending on Twitter dropped by 71%.
