The Pentagon was skeptical about the refusal of US President Joseph Biden to supply Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets.
The Washington Post, citing internal sources in the US defense department, claims that part of the military is inclined towards the option of providing aircraft to Kyiv, but later.
According to unnamed Pentagon officials, the decision on the F-16 will be similar to the one made for Abrams tanks and Patriot systems.
Another U.S. Department of Defense official says there is “growing frustration among those who want to do more to help Ukraine but whose views get in the way of others who advocate a more cautious approach.”
The day before, US President Joe Biden said “no” when answering a question about F-16 fighter jets for Ukraine. However, he said this when he approached the media representatives for a few seconds. It’s not clear if he meant not now or not at all.
Politico is already writing, citing sources, that Biden’s response is not the final position of Washington, since there were no high-level discussions.
