In the Pakistani city of Peshawar, a suicide bomber blew up a mosque where many people had gathered for prayer.
The explosion occurred during the afternoon prayer. As a result, half of the wall of the mosque collapsed and the survivors had to get out from under the rubble of the brick.
The cause of the explosion is being investigated, however, since there were many police officers among the prayers, the authorities believe that it could have been a targeted action.
According to representatives of the security services, in the forefront of the worshipers was a suicide bomber who blew himself up. A suicide bomber entered a mosque in Peshawar – it is located in a guarded protected complex of government buildings. This mosque was visited by policemen from the main department of the city. The explosion caused the collapse of the roof, killed.
Sarbakaf Mohmand, commander of the Pakistani branch of the Taliban, claimed responsibility for the incident.
In March 2022, a Shia mosque was bombed in Peshawar, killing dozens of people.
Police in the capital, Islamabad, have now declared a high level of terrorist threat, and checks have been tightened at all checkpoints at the entrance and exit of the capital.
