The sixth package of European sanctions against Russia could include an oil embargo for six to eight months. This is stated in documents with preliminary versions of sanctions decisions, Radio Liberty reported on Wednesday, May 4.
“The drafts contain a proposal to ban the direct or indirect purchase, import or transportation of crude oil and petroleum products. At the same time, it is planned to postpone the full embargo on crude oil for six months, and on those petroleum products for eight. Hungary and Slovakia may allow the implementation of previously terminated contracts until December 31, 2023 year, “the statement said.
Also, three Russian financial institutions will be disconnected from SWIFT – Sberbank, Credit Bank of Moscow and Rosselkhozbank. In addition, three Russian TV channels (Russia RTR, Russia 24, TV Center International) will fall under sanctions.
European officials plan to add 16 businesses and 57 citizens to the list of sanctions of companies and individuals. The list will likely include:
