The decision to sharply increase military assistance to Ukraine is the fear of some Western capitals that is now working for Russia.
The Wall Street Journal wrote that these concerns suggest that the window of opportunity for Ukraine is not endless, it needs powerful Western weapons – main battle tanks, other armored vehicles and more air defense systems.
All of this must be delivered soon to increase the momentum gained in the offensive successes at Kyiv, Kharkov and Kherson last year.
The WSJ writes that last year, officials in the West believed that the longer the clashes, the greater the chances for Kyiv to win. However, later confidence in the fidelity of such a position weakened.
As the newspaper notes, officials now fear that Moscow can “win” in any protracted conflict “at attrition.”
This is the reason for the decision to increase the amount of military aid provided to Kyiv.
