Washington believes the Pentagon should send fighter jets to Kyiv

Ukraine has kept the American-made F-16 on its list of desirable weapons since last year’s Russian invasion.

US military officials are pushing the Pentagon to send F-16s to Ukraine. On Saturday, January 28, Politico wrote.

As Ukraine prepares to launch a new offensive to retake territory in the spring, the DoD’s fighter jet campaign is gaining momentum, according to a DoD official and two other people involved in the discussion. These people, along with other respondents, asked not to be identified, American media wrote.

“I don’t think we’re against it,” a senior Defense Department official said of the F-16, speaking on condition of anonymity. He emphasized that no final decision has been made yet.

“However, Ukraine has not yet declared that fighter jets are its priority,” the official added.

He noted that the Pentagon is committed to providing Kyiv with the capabilities it needs to immediately strengthen its resistance to the occupiers.

Earlier, the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that it actually knows what type of aircraft Ukraine will receive from the allies and what the terms are for training personnel.

And the Office of the President said that the issue of providing Ukraine with F-16 has been unblocked. This question has three parts.
