The concern has the opportunity to increase the production of artillery shells and tank ammunition.
The German concern Rheinmetall is planning to start production of HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, which Ukraine uses in the war against Russia. On Saturday, January 28, Reuters reported, citing Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger.
Rheinmetall is already in talks with Lockheed Martin, the American company that makes HIMARS, to do so, he said.
“At the Munich Security Conference, we hope to conclude an agreement with Lockheed Martin to start production of HIMARS in Germany,” said Papperger.
He emphasized that the company has the technology to produce warheads and rocket engines, as well as trucks to accommodate the launchers. Such an agreement could involve investments of hundreds of millions of euros, the majority of which is planned to be financed by Rheinmetall.
