German defense group Rheinmetall is considering transferring a large amount of ammunition for Leopard tanks, which will be sent to Ukraine. On Thursday, January 26, the Rheinische Post reports.
It is noted that the concern has significantly increased its capacity – especially in the sector of large caliber.
“We have invested and will continue to do so, increasing production and recruiting additional personnel. We are doing everything possible to support Ukraine, NATO and the German government,” said Rheinmetall.
They added that thanks to the increased capacity, the company is meeting the expected increase in demand from the Bundeswehr and the armed forces for other Leopard tanks.
As you know, on January 25, the German government officially announced its decision to transfer the Leopard-2 main battle tanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and allow re-export to other countries that also want to do this.
In addition, US President Joe Biden confirmed his intention to transfer 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine.
