At least 27 people have died in a bomb blast in central Nigeria, the Nigerian State Police said late Wednesday. Nasarawa (where the incident took place) who is still investigating what he describes as an attack.
“Unfortunately, something similar happened. 27 pastors were killed by this bomb,” a church spokesman said. Nasarawa PoliceRamhan Nansel, in statements collected by local media.
The device exploded on Tuesday night in the city of Rukubi, near the border separating the Nigerian states of Nasarawa and Benue.

“On behalf of the state government, I want to express solidarity with the Fulani people across the state for the murder of their people by an as yet unknown attacker. I want to assure them of our commitment to finding those responsible for this act and bringing them face to face with the law,” he added.
State Benue, one of Nigeria’s main food producers, has documented violence in recent years between local predominantly Christian farmers and Muslim Fulani herders due to lack of land and resources. (EFE)
